The redesigned 2024 Ford Ranger continues the legacy of “Ford-Tough” capability while adding turbocharged V6 performance to its rugged mid-size pickup truck lineup. Available in XL, XLT, Lariat, and the newly introduced Wildtrak trims, the Ranger offers a variety of features and enhancements to meet diverse needs.
The 2024 Ranger boasts a robust design with a single 4-door SuperCrew configuration. Built on a reengineered, fully-boxed steel frame with a widened wheelbase, the Ranger offers improved stability and a more capable stance. The bed space has been expanded to provide more room for cargo between the wheel wells. An available Box Side Step facilitates easier access to the bed, while the Pro Power Onboard system offers a 400-watt power inverter with an outlet in the bed, ideal for powering tools or camping accessories. When properly equipped, the Ranger can tow up to 7,500 pounds, making it a formidable contender in the mid-size truck segment.
While specific fuel economy estimates were not available at the time of this review, the Ranger’s EcoBoost engines are designed for efficiency as well as power. The addition of a plug-in hybrid variant for international markets promises improved fuel economy and an electric driving range of about 28 miles, though this model will not be available in the U.S.
